CMS requires that a "facility must have sufficient staff who provide direct services to residents with appropriate competencies and skill sets to provide nursing and related services to assure resident safety and attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans for care and considering the number, acuity, and diagnoses of the facility's resident population in accordance with ยง483.70(e)." So, what does this mean in regard to facility assessment, hiring of staff, and the training we provide within our buildings? In this session, Cat will be covering the requirements and surveyor guidance for assessing staff competencies. Attention will be given to CMS expectations for all departments, as well as recommendations on how to meet these specific requirements.
